Mechanical Properties and Nanocrystalline Structure of Ni-P Electrodeposits

In this study, nanocrystalline structure and mechanical properties of Ni-P alloy deposits were investigated. It was observed that phosphorus content of Ni-P alloy deposits strongly affected microstructures and mechanical properties in both the as-plated and heat-treated conditions. The content of phosphorus gradually increased with increasing H3PO3 concentration of a electrolytic solution. The XRD results show that increasing P contents in the deposits changed microstructure of Ni-P deposits having smaller grain size structure.
