초록

This study was carried out to investigate the biodiversity of macrobenthic fauna on three macrotidal flats of Gomso Bay, West Coast of Korea. Samples along the three different intertidal transects perpendicular to the shoreline (Panwol, Hajon and Dongho flats) were collected during April 17-19, 1999. The benthic macrofauna comprised a total of 165 species and their mean abundance and biomass were 2,569 inds./ ㎡ and 319.205 gWWt./㎡ respectively. The benthic community structures were described based on the data of species composition, abundance and biomass. Polychaetes, crustaceans, and molluscs occupied more than 90% of the total species number and abundance. Community structure statistics (species diversity and eveness) showed definite temporal patterns. Among all stations they varied between 0.32, 2.83 and 0.13, 0.97 respectively. Generally both diversity and evenness were lower at bay mouth tidal flat (Dongho), but higher at the inner (Panwol) and middle bay areas (Hajon). According to the LeBris index (1988), the fauna was numerically dominated by the capitellid polychaetes Mediomastus californiensis and Heteromastus filiformis, haustorid amphipods Eohaustorius longidactylus, laternulid bivalve Laternula marilina, and glauconomid bivalve Glauconome chinensis, ocypodid crab Ilyoplax pingi, and a brachiopod Lingula anatina.. It should be noted that Sinonovacula constricta in Panwol, Glauconome chinensis in Hajon, and Eohaustorius longidactylus in Dongho areas were also abundant.
