Evaluating the Energy Performance of Climate-Adaptive Building Envelopes Using Shading Mask Map

This study presents a new method for evaluating Climate-Adaptive Building Envelopes (CABE). Existing CABE simulation approaches typically require multiple energy models and extensive post-processing of hourly data, which limits design flexibility in the early stages. To address this, we developed a shading mask system that effectively captures the dynamic shading effects of CABE using a single energy model. Two test cases validates the reliability and robustness of the method, offering a more flexible approach to CABE simulation. © 2025 Building Simulation Conference Proceedings. All rights reserved.
