훈요 10조에 담긴 공헌과 보답의 원리

초록

This paper investigates what the intrinsic principle was in the 10 Testaments of Taejo. The 10 Testaments were respected as the political prime directive of Goryo dynasty. The Testaments were composed of various subjects linked with Buddhism, Geomancy, and Confucianism. This paper argues that the principle of contribution and reward was innate in the 10 Testaments of Taejo. Taejo praised the Buddha and the Holy Spirits of Nature for assisting Goryo dynasty to achieve great success. It was the king’s duty to acknowledge and reward them for their contribution. It would ensure the dynasty’s immortality. The commoners also supported Taejo and deserved rewards, and thus were endowed with benevolent policies. The officials and soldiers should be treated according to their contributions properly. The king must restrain himself and always endeavor to make contributions to the people and the dynasty.
