Filtration with Sedimentation

Sedimentation is accompanyed upon the filtration on horizontal surfaces facing upward. To know the influence of sedimentation during filtration, a method named filtration-permeation was adopted. The filtration-permeations were performed for the several concentrations of suspension, for the perfectly sedimented thick suspension, and for the pre-sedimented suspensions. It is concluded that the average specifie cake resistance of a cake(aav) do not change with the concentration of suspension, and the mass fraction of suspension(S) changes during filtration by sedimentation. The use of average specific resistance obtained during permeation(aav,p) is recommanded for the filtration-sedimentation.
