ZSM-5 type zeolite has been successfully synthesized using TPABr as template and ethyl silicate as silicon source via the continuous crystallization microwave equipment(CCME)process. This continuous microwave synthesis system developed as the process may mark an epoch in the field of commercial zeolite manufacturing through the extremely rapid and mass production of ZSM-5 zeolite in the simple microwave system. A precursor gel for the synthesis was prepared by mixing alumino-silicate gel with a nano-seed solution obtained also under microwave irradiation, and pumped into the CCME. Several minutes such as 6min was sufficient for the complete crystallization of ZSM-5. Results from XRD patterns and SEM indicate that the structural properties of ZSM-5 zeolite obtained are similar to the materials obtained using both by batch-type microwave instrument and conventional hydrothermal synthesis.
