Rare benign tumors of the breast

Case 1 : We present herein the case of 53 year old woman found to have a pleomorphic adenoma or so called mixed tumor of the breast. the patient presented with a hard mass, 2cm in diameter located just beneath the left areola. Macroscopically, the excised mass was well circumscribed and the cut surface was homogeneously yellowish white. Microscopically, the tumor was clearly demarcated with a focal fibrous capsule and composed of epithelial and mesenchymal component with chondromyxoid area. Mitosis and anaplasia were not identified within the tumor. Case 2 : Schwannoma aring within breast parenchyma is rare. We report a case of 23 yeal old woman presented with a palpable mass of right breast for 2 year. Macroscopically, the excised mass showed a well defined with a fibrous capsule and the cut surface was reddish yellow and myxoid with numerous small cyst sapce containing blood. Microscopically the tumor had alternating cellular and paucicellular area with characteristic palisading and spindle shaped nuclei forming Verocay body. The tumor stained with S100 protein. As pleomorphic adenoma and schwannoma are rare benign tumor in the breast, these cases have been mistaken for a malignant tumor or fibroadenoma, clinically.
