Sewage Treatment by Self-Granulated Activated Sludge Process

초록

Basic experiments were conducted to granulate the suspended activated sludge particles in an aerobic condition. Self-granulation of the activated sludge could be achieved through interparticle bridging by slow mixing and growth of filamentous microorganisms without any supporting media. The granulated activated sludge process required no clarifier by producing a better and stabler effluent than the activated sludge process. The granulated activated sludge also showed higher specific respiration rate and specific denitrification rate than the suspended activated sludge.
