Numerical analysis of flow characteristics around a rudder by multi-block method
초록
Numerical computations are performed for turbulent flows around a rudder. The rudder attached at the stern of ship consists of upper fixed and lower rotating units, where the rotation of the lower unit and the gap between the two create very complex geometry and also make difficult to approach numerically. Since it is not appropriate to treat the rudder as a single block, multiple blocks are introduced in the study. To verify the numerical schemes, lift coefficients of two and three dimensional rudder in the uniform flow are obtained as the rotating angle varies. The results are compared with other numerical and experimental values published in the past and they show reasonable agreements.
