In this paper, when surges enter from the service entrance of a building, the coordination of two-stage cascade surge protective devices(SPDs) were investigated by simulation. The influence of the duration of incoming surges and the distance between the upstream and downstream SPDs on the energy coordination was analyzed. It was found that the sharing of energy of two-stage cascaded SPDs strongly depends on the duration of incoming surges and the distance between the two-stage cascaded SPDs.
