초록

This paper presents the evaluation procedure of TCP performance in the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) ad-hoc network. Two kinds of routing schemes are considered and compared here: one is the traditional AODV routing; the other is the location-aided routing (LAR) which utilizes UWB’s feature of positioning and distance-detecting between mobile nodes. Our study and analysis incorporate the user mobility model, the number of hops, and the UWB statistical channel model. The simulation results show that by adopting multi-hop transmission, the TCP throughput can be improved as compared with single-hop transmission, when the transmit power of mobile node is limited. Also, the results suggest that the LAR be more promising than the AODV in the UWB network environment, since the former tends to have lower routing overhead and less route discovery time, given that the location of nodes is known.
