Urethral colonic type polyp associated with squamous cell carcinoma

초록

Urehral colonic type polyp is very rare and only several cases were reported. It presents as aurethral caruncle. However, the histologic feautures revealed colonic type mucosal glands with focal regenerative atypia. The histogenesis of this lesion is unclear. Several hypotheses were suggested. One of them is metaplstia theory. teh second is congenital in nature and the third theory is that its probable origin is an intraurethral colacogenic colonic gland rest. we experienced a case of colonic type polyp asoociated with squamous cell carcinoma in the surface epithelium of the urethra. The maignant change os this surface epithelium is parobably due to long standing irritation and stimulation.
