Multiconnectivity and dynamics of complex networks

초록

Complex networks often have a variable number of paths connecting two nodes and their efficient organizations are essential for the structural and dynamical robustness of the networks. In this talk, we introduce our recent works which may help to understand the implications of such multiconnectivity for the network functions in various aspects. We first present the distribution of disjoint paths in random networks, which is shown to be related to the degree distribution and the giant biconnected component[1]. The evolution of the giant biconnected component in scale-free networks is studied. Among the paths between two nodes, shortcuts may have profound effects on transport and dynamical processes and we investigate analytically the impacts of shortcuts on random walk dynamics in model networks[2]. Finally, we discuss the possibility of the multiple functional pathways of the metabolic networks to be used for the classification of organisms.
