Modulation of neuronal nitric oxide synthase expression in contralateral testis following torsion of unilateral testis

초록

unilateral testicular torsion is known to cause atrophy of the testis and also impaired spermatogenesis in the contralateral testis. Following torsion (4hr) and detorsion of one testis, delayed enhancement in the expression of nNOS was observed in the contralateral testis. Proportion of the membranous nNOS began to decrease in the cotralateral testis 24hr after the detorsion of the one testis and 1-4 weeks after the detorsion, membranous nNOS was not expressed. but the expression of cytosolic nNOS was increased markedly. These results suggest that the impaired spermatogenesis observed in the contralateral testis of patients experiencing ipsilateral atrophy following torsion and detorsion of one testis may be caused by modulation of NO signal such as suppression of the membranous nNOS but increase of the sytos
