Elderly patients with gastric cancer who had a relatively good physical status (low APACHE II score) had a low morbidity and mortality, which was independant of the stage and operative methods. Among the various factors affecting the postoperative complications, only age was found to be a significant prognostic factors Elderly patients, particularly those over 75 years old can be regarded as candidates for the surgery and perioperative management with a more careful an comprehensive approach.
