Novel Drug Delivery System Embedded within Vesosomes for Controlled and Sustained Drug Release
초록
Liposomes have long been established as an effective drug delivery system, however, they still hold their limitations in simultaneously meeting properties such as controlled release and protection of drugs in physiological conditions. Vesosomes are multicompartment systems embedding unilamellar liposomes within the second bilayer and have greater advantages compared to liposomes in that different drugs could be loaded; drug retention time increases; gives more freedom in designing controlled drug release. Herein, a vesosomal type drug delivery system, encapsulating two types of liposomes and having reactive oxygen species (ROS)-generating Methylene blue (MB) placed in the intermembrane, is constructed. As there are no vesosomal drug delivery systems established until now, our study offers a new strategy for an effective multicompartment system along with controlled and sustained cancer therapy.
