Torsional Modes of Some Organic Molecules and Their Ions

Torsional mode is unique because ot its large amplitude motion and low-frequency. Therefore, torsional mode is quite well separated from other high frequency odes, and often treated as hindered internal rotation. The barrier can be determined by the dpectral analysis, and its value reflects the nature of the electronic state especially since the hyperconjugation wffect is so important in determining the barrier height.
