Numerical Analyzing the Effective Parasitic Capacitances by Step Coverage of Electrodes

In this paper, we report the influence of the step-coverage which affects capacitance in numerical simulation of TFT-LCD. In this work, we have used a conventional TN mode LC cell. In order to calculate capacitance, we used the energy method by a numerical simulator, TechWiz LCD. As a result, in the case of a parasitic capacitance between data line and pixel electrode, we found that step-coverage structure is about 18 times as large as normal planar structure.
