Design and experiment of elastic energy storage type foot energy generator

With the increasing demand for big data of intelligent healthcare and sport monitoring technology, the performance requirements for wearable wireless sensor network devices are constantly improving. However, the traditional battery-based energy supply solution of WSN wearable systems cannot meet the long-term maintenance-free work requirements. One of the practical power solutions for WSN healthcare monitoring devices is to use human mechanical energy harvesting devices to supply uninterrupted power. In this study, a mechanical energy storage unit is designed and integrated in a piezo energy harvesting system. The system can store and release instantaneous footstep mechanical energy to drive energy generators to generate electricity. The performance of the energy storage unit is evaluated by theoretical analysis and structural optimization design. By integrating tests with a piezoelectric generator, the test results show that energy harvesting prototype can work well in a down phase and uplift phase.
