Acute Fire-related Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: MR Imaging and 1H MR Spectroscopic Findings

There was a big fire in public cafe for high school students in Korea in September, 1999. More than fifty students were dead and many patients hace suffered from psychic truama named posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD). Sxteen conssecutive patients with fire-related PTSD were evaluated with MR imaging and 1H MR spectroscopy. In conclusion, decreased NAA/Cr ratios in the BG on 1H MRS might be early sign of abnormality of acute fire-related PTSD and this abnormal findings was not well-correlated with neuropsychiatric symptoms.
