Optically filtered output characteristics of silicon micro-ring waveguides

Silicon based nanophotonic ring technology has been improved significantly during last many years for various applications to optical filters, optical sensors, and all-optical functional devices. However, further improvement on the silicon micro-ring technology is still needed for practical uses in multi-channel wavelength-division-multiplexed (WDM) signal processing. In this letter we report experimentally measured results on the optically filtered output characteristics of silicon micro-ring waveguides (SMRWs) fabricated in various geometries.
