Predictive Control Design for Flight Control Systems

This paper deals with an application of the model predictive control(MPC) strategies to a flight control system. MPC is designed for the linearized state space model obtained from some operating point of nonlinear flight system. The solution of optimization of the cost function constrained on input and/or output variables is achieved using the quadratic programming(QP) algorithm. The performance of MPC is to be compared to other controllers such as fuzzy PID, QFT, eigen-structure assignment and H_infinity loop shaping, which control methods are presented in the same session of this workshop.
