Energy Dissipation Capacity of the SMA Bolts Fastened T-stub Connections Having Low Geometric Parameter Values of a′

초록

In general, when the geometric parameter value of ′, which influences the behavior of T-stub, is large, relatively low stiffness and strength are provided, but adequate energy dissipation capacity is exhibited due to the plastic deformation. However, in the case of a T-stub with small ′ , relatively high stiffness and strength values are provided, but the energy dissipation capacity is reduced. This study was carried out to devise methods on how to design T-stub connections with relatively high stiffness and strength as well as adequate energy dissipation capacity in small ′. By utilizing SMA bolts which have excellent shape restoration ability and superelastic capacity. The energy dissipation capacity of T-stub connections due to changes in ′ values was identified through a three-dimensional nonlinear finite element analysis. The practical applicability of SMA bolts was also examined.
