The effects of walls at the bottom of shallow foundation are studied in recent years. According to the recent study, shallow foundations with several shapes of walls at their bottom have moderate bearing capacity comparing general shallow foundation and deep foundation. In other words, the bearing capacity of shallow foundation with walls at the bottom is definitely bigger than general shallow foundation. Therefore, they could be used when the bearing capacity with flat foundation is slightly smaller than required value without any need to install deep foundations. In this study, load tests in a large chamber were performed by installing box shaped walls at the bottom of shallow foundation in order to study the appropriate ratio of width of foundation to wall length. The bearing capacity is changed by the variation of wall length. And 1:1 length ratio shows the biggest bearing capacity.
