Performance evaluation of DS-UWB system applying sliding window channel estimation method

In this paper, the performance of a single-user DS-UWB system according to the newly updated DS-UWB PHY Layer standard from IEEE P802.15.3a is introduced. The performances of error control coding, different combining methods in selective Rake receiver for DS-UWB system is analyzed. Besides, we propose a simple channel estimation scheme using sliding window, which results in less than 1 dB performance loss at BER 10-4 compared with the perfect channel estimation. For the purpose of channel estimation, we propose to apply a pilot symbol spreaded with 29-1 period of m-sequence.
