초록

This paper is to introduce a conceptual approach of hybrid structural monitoring system which evaluates the structural health condition based on the whole information from multiple sensors rather than based on a local information from a single sensor. The strategy behind the hybrid structural monitoring system is to relate a local structural problem to the overall structural health condition. In a bridge structure, different types of sensors are utilized to measure structural response and nvironmental effects. Some of them, such as strain gages, are to measure local structural behavior, while some others, such as accelerometers, are to measure global response of a structure. The hybrid health index is determined by considering the weighting factors depending on the type and location of sensors. The weighting for the sensor location is determined based on the target reliability index used for the design of the corresponding member. The weight for the sensor type is determined as half and half for the overall local and global aspects in the current approach. A simulation study on a simple structure is carried out to examine the proposed hybrid structural monitoring concept and the results are reviewed.
