A Novel Hybrid Design of a Directional Coupler

We proposed a novel hybrid design of a directional coupler to improve the extinction ratio and the fabrication error limit by using the lateral shift and the asymmetric field profile of curved. The improvement of extinction ratio has reached to -39dB and fabrication error limit to 57.19㎛, with a design of 300㎛ curvature and 0.1㎛ lateral shift for a InP-based structure.
