Chemical modification of electrospun nanofiber scaffolds

초록

Electrospinning is a novel technique in the fabrication of fine fibers from polymeric liquid by using an electrical charge. Electrospun nanofiber mats with high surface area to volume ratio and high porosity for exchanging soluble components, have advantageous properties to uses biomedical uses. Among the synthetic biodegradable and electrospinable polymer, aliphatic polyester family is widely used in biomedical devices, for example, polyglycolide (PGA), poly(ε-caprolactone) and poly lactic acid (PLA), has slow degradable rate under physiological conditions. These nanofiber surfaces need to modify to compatible with cell and mimic the natural extracellular matrix (ECM). In this study, electrospun nanofibers were fabricated by electrospinning and their surfaces were modified. Polymeric nanofibers which have well defined surface and three dimensional structure, suggest parameters to make scaffold similar to real extracellular matrix.
