A Study on Prediction of Leakage Flow for a Crack in Independent LNG Cargo Tank

초록

For ships equipped with independent LNG tanks, it is necessary to be able to store the leaked liquid cargo for 15 days after the release of liquid cargo by cracking. Therefore, it is essential to carry out the leakage prediction of fluid cargo flow in independent LNG tank, which is one of the important components in the LNG tank design. In this study, to examine the prediction method of LNG leaks, the leakage characteristics of liquid cargo were examined through experiments and the feasibility of prediction method was examined by combining it with numerical analysis. Experiments were carried out on the pressure conditions that can be generated in an independent LNG tank by preparing a dedicated pressure vessel for the leakage measurement experiment. From the experimental results, the distribution of the outflow amount according to the crack shape was examined. Also, the numerical simulation model was created using the measured leakage flow from the experiment, and the leakage from the independent LNG tank was calculated by CFD analysis.
