In this paper, electrical breakdowns of the inhomogeneous soil gap under lightning impulse voltages have been investigated at different resistivity. The electrical breakdown breakdowns appear at the tail of impulse voltage. A sharp decrease in ground resistance was caused by soil ionization and breakdown.
