Incidence of nasal methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in intensive care unit of tertiary hospital in Korea

The numbers of nasal S. aureus carrier were 8 in ICU group and 6 in ward group (p>0.05). There was one MRSA carrier in ICU group and were 2 carriers in ward group (p>0.05). In throat culture, only one patient of ICU group was a MRSA carrier. The incidence of nasal MRSA in ICU was 3.85% and in ward was 3.45%. The screening test for MRSA may not be necessary in all patients admitting to ICU. But it should be decided as a result of institutional data collection.
