Migration of substances from nylon 12 and its copolymers
초록
Existence and migration of substances within polymeric materials have been a big issue because they can affect the properties and performance of polymers and in particular they are closely related to the healthy issue when the polymeric materials are used as food packaging materials. Nylon 12 is in food packaging applications due to their unique properties such as high resistance to chemicals, abrasion resistance, and gas interception, etc. In this work, we investigated the migration levels of laurolactam and oligomers from nylon 12 and its copolymers that were used in food packaging. Experiments were conducted to develop and validate the analysis method for measuring laurolactam that migrated to food simulants (oil, alcohol, acid and water) through various extraction conditions that had been previously developed for the analysis of caprolactam from polyamide 6. Laurolactam levels migrated to four food simulants were quantified by GC, SEC and HPLC.
