The effects of pressureless sintering and annealing conditions on thermoelectric properties of p-type Fe0.9Mn0.1Si2 compounds were examined. The electrical conductivity increased and the Seebeck coefficient decreased with increasing density. The phase transition to b-FeSi2 during annealing was much faster at 800℃ than at 865℃. The residual ε-FeSi was remained despite of long (100 hours) annealing at 800℃. As the sintering temperature increased from 1150℃ to 1175℃, the phase transition occurred rapidly. The optimum thermoelectric properties were obtained at 400-600℃. The specimen sintered at 1150℃ for 2 hours with coarse powders showed the highest Seebeck coefficient of 380 mV/K, and the highest power factor of 1.7´10-3 W/mK2.
