Vacuum assisted therapy in sacral necrotizing fasciitis after chemotherapy induced perirectal abscess of rectal cancer
초록
Necrotizing fasciitis is a rare, serious infection of the deep fascia leading to subcutaneous tissue necrosis. It is extremely important for this condition to be identified and treated promptly as it bears significant mortality. We describe a case of necrotizing fasciitis after chemotherapy induced abscess at perirectal cancer area. To date, few cases have been reported as necrotizing fasciitis of the sacral area secondary to rectal perforation in rectal cancer patients, we reported its clinical course and management by negative pressure wound therapy. Vacuum assisted therapy can expedite the healing of complex wound failures. Our aim was to evaluate the use of a vacuum-assisted closure(VAC)device to treat complex wound failures in perirectal abscess of rectal cancer. An 59 year old male patient diagnosed with rectal cancer. The patient was given chemoradiotherapy before surgery. After 4 months later, lung metastasis confirmed. The patient was given additional chemotherapy (avastin + FOLFIRI) as 6 stage.
