초록
In this paper, we mainly analyze the performance of conventional Time Hopping Pulse Position Modulation (TH-PPM) ultra wideband communication (UWB) system and the coded TH-PPM UWB system. The performance of TH-PPM is analyzed under an ideal AWGN channel and a correlation receiver. We use the power spectral density function to get the expression of bit error probability of the TH-PPM UWB system. It yields simple and exact formulas relating the performance to the system parameters. For coded TH-PPM UWB system, we analyze two decoding methods, viterbi algorithm and soft output viterbi algorithm, and the upper bound and lower bound of the bit error probability are achieved. The analysis shows under certain conditions that the conventional TH-PPM UWB suffers performance degradation with respect to the coded TH-PPM UWB system. Furthermore, we give the computer simulation results which also show to prove our theoretical analysis.
