Application of Mesoporous Carbon Tube Support in Enantio-Selective Separation of Optically Pure Amino Acid from Racemates

Mesoporous silica, alumina and carbons are fundamental candidates for the use as a support in the catalysis. Among these materials, porous carbon has the big potential for the immobilization of hydrophobic compounds on the surfaces. Thus, the mesoporous carbons having high surface area and large pore size have been considered as new materials for many applications . In this work, mesoporous carbon tubes were synthesized by reverse replication of mesophase on the surfaces of silica fibers coated by SBA-16 sol. The typical procedure for the synthesis of mesoporous carbon tubes are listed in Scheme 1. First of all the silica fiber was coated with 20% PVP and 20% NH4F. The silica sol for SBA-16 was prepared according to the method reported previously in the literature.
