Optimal Transmit Signal Design for Estimation of Spatially Correlated MIMO-OFDM Channels

In this paper, we design an optimal training scheme for multiple-input multiple-out (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems under spatially correlated frequency-selective fading channels. We first develop the optimal pilot symbols and placement of pilot tones with respect to the mean square error of the linear channel estimate.
