초록
In this paper, a soft-handoff technique for multicarrier DS/CDMA system is proposed in cellular mobile radio-communication network. With DS/CDMA system employing a rake receiver, several signals simultaneously transmitted from base stations involved in handoffs can be isolated and aligned both in time and phase. However, since MC-DS/CDMA system does not employ rake receiver, it will need such many receivers as the number of base sta-tions involved in mobile's handoff. To solve the problem, the base stations involved in handoff are assigned with an equal portion of user's sub-bands and transmit the signal through the assigned sub-bands within the handoff period. The numerical analyses for BER are performed and com-pared at the specified cell boudaries in both systems. It is shown that proposed scheme outperforms the soft-handoff of DS/CDMA system with rake receiver by more than about 2 dB of at .
