Development of Residual Strength Prediction Program for the Randomly Damaged Ships

초록

This paper explains the basic theory and a new development of the program for residual strength prediction on the asymmetrically damaged ships, being capable of searching moment-curvature relations with neutral axis mobility. The validity of the program is verified by comparing momentcurvature curve from the developed program with experimental and FEA results. For application example with bulker and tanker,the residual strength is calculated by damage estimation of ABS, DNV and MARPOLdamage rule.It is concluded that new program shows very good performance to produce moment-curvature relations with neutral axis mobility on the asymmetricallydamaged ship. It can dramatically reduce design period of FEM, analysis time and user inconveniences.
