A study on mooring system design of floating offshore wind turbine in Jeju offshore area

초록

This paper presents a mooring design procedure of floating offshore wind turbine. The Jeju offshore environment data are taken from KHOA (Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Administration), then are used for environmental conditions of numerical analyses. A semi-submersible type floating wind system with 5-MW class wind turbine studied by DeepCwind Consortium is applied. Catenary mooring with studless chain is chosen as the mooring system. Design deliverables such as nominal sizes of chain and length of mooring line are decided considering long term prediction of breaking strength of mooring lines where 100-year return period is used. Designed mooring system is verified from fatigue calculation based on rainflow cycle counting, S-N curve, and damage summation of Miner’s rule. Mooring tension process is obtained from time-domain motion analyses using ANSYS/AQWA.
