PURPOSE/AIM: Abnormality of deep fascia on T2 weighted images on MRI has known to be nonspecific and can show various diseases. We will describe the imaging findings and clues which can make differential diagnoses. CONTENT ORGANIZATION: Compartmental anatomy of upper and lower limb Imaging finding of necrotizing fasciitis, non-necrotizing infectious fasciitis, pyomyositis, eosinophilic fasciitis related to inflammatory myositis, lymphedema, Morel-Lavellee disease, and acute compartment syndrome Summarization of clues of differential diagnoses as a table focused on signal intensity of deep fascia and muscle number of involved compartment and fascia swelling in subcutaneous fat layer SUMMARY: The pattern of abnormal signal intensity of T2 weighed images and enhanced T1 weighted images, number of involved compartment, number of involved fascia, presence of swelling in adjacent subcutaneous fat layer, and pattern of abnormality of muscle in involved fascia can be useful clue for differential diagnosis of the various diseases with abnormal deep fascia
