초록
Key framework of the performance-based design code for concrete structures under development by KCI(Korea Concrete Institute) is briefly introduced even if it is still in the stage of conceptual development. Verification process, detail design criteria and equations are out of the scope of the current paper. Fundamentally, the new design code will adopt the limit state design concept based on partial factor methods. It defines the design requirements based on three basic performances; safety, serviceability, and durability. All the possible ways of implementing performance are considered and discussed. A conept of differentiating safety performance level of concrete structures is discussed to allow more diversity in designing a structure and also to provide more allocated selection of a structural performance for the owner or authority. A sample study on safety factors depending on performance level has been carried out.
