Female Residents and the Elderly Household in Korea: Housing Type and Domestic Behavior Limitation

The aging of the population is considered one of the most critical demographic and social agenda facing contemporary Korean society. Among all age groups, the elderly is fastest growing. Accordingly, an analysis of daily behavior patterns for the oldest generation is imperative not only for wider social awareness, but also for improvement in the quality of geriatric living conditions. This paper will survey elderly people in independent households in Korea, analyze the collected data, and propose suggestions for an improved housing typology.
