Verification of Ott's Dust Particle Collection Efficiency Model Prediction and Analysis of Venturi-Scrubber Working Parameters

Ott's model prediction using a venturi-scrubber was verified: in general, the dust collection efficiency increases with a decrease in liquid surface tension (an increase in surfactant concentration), but that the range over which the increase was significant depended on the particle size. The collection efficiency increases as the surfactant concentration increases. However, the range over which this increase is significant depends upon the pump pressure. The significance of an increase in the collection efficiency caused by an increase in the surfactant concentration decreases as the pump pressure increases. This verifies Ott's model that predicts a decrease in the effect of a liquid surface tension with increasing liquid-to-air ratio. Statistical Analysis System (SAS) General Linear Model was used for analysis of variance and optimization of nozzle pressure and surfactant concentraion for the best collection efficiency of different types of coal dust with the venturi-scrubber system.
