The aim of this paper is the development of microwave-absorbing materials based on carbon-coated ferrites using the urea decomposition method and investigation of their absorption characteristics as a function of process parameters. The effects of process parameters such as concentration ratio of urea and nickel iron salt solutions, period of aging and the weight ratio of carbon and ferrite on the synthesis of Ni ferrite from aqueous solutions by decomposition of urea was investigated to develop carbon-coated ferrites. The materials were characterized with a X-ray diffractometer and the crystal size was estimated using the Debye-Scherrer equation. The electromagnetic properties of these materials, namely permittivity and permeability were measured in the 0.1-13 GHz frequency range. High resolution scanning microscopy was used to observe morphology of carbon-carbon coated ferrite powders.
