Modeling Input Beam for analyzing Micro-Optic Devices

초록

The coupling efficiency of micro-optic devices should be maximized in order to use them as the low-loss communication devices. Usually the configuration of micro-optic devices are designed optimally by numerical simulation. During the procedure of the optimal design, the performance of devices depends on how an input beam or an input source is modelled. In this paper, the influence of source-modelling method on the coupling efficiency has been investigated by using the our simulation tool based on the finite ray tracing method, and also the most efficient method for modeling light source is determined.
