Outcomes of Severe Mitral Stenosis with the Revised Severity Criteria: Mitral Valve Replacement versus Percutaneous Mitral Valvuloplasty

For severe MS patients, there was no significant difference in cardiovascular mortality or HF admission according to the initial treatment strategy of PMV versus MVR. The PMV group experienced more redo-interventions than the MVR group, particularly among MVA ≤ 1.0 cm2. Therefore, MVR would be the preferable treatment in MVA ≤ 1.0 cm2 without clear evidence of suitable morphology for PMV.
