Synthesis and characterization of polynitro bisimidazoles

1,3-Dipolar cycloaddition is one of the most well-known and useful reaction to form heterocyclic compounds. Recently, we reported the selective dimerization of 3-amino-4-chloroximidofurazan (ACOF) via its nitrile oxide intermediate. To generate nitrile oxide intermediate various bases are examined, and we found that homogeneous and heterogeneous reaction conditions are the most important concept. Therefore in this research we apply these recent conclusions, and trying to find out dimerization condition of imidazole derivatives. Futhermore we will discuss about nitration of bisimidazole derivatives, potent candidate for high energy material.
