Dual offshore pipeline stability in trench

Dual pipelines are often used to transport gas, oil, water and oil products. There are great advantages in the installation of dual pipelines over tow separate single lines. In can greately reduce the cost for trench, bak-filling and installation. Dual pipelins in trench cna reduce the influence of external forces. PIV (particle image velocimetry) equipement in a circulation water channel is applied to conduct the experimental study. A numerical study is conduced with Navier-Stokes and the continuity equations. Since trench geometries with dual pipes are very complex, grid shapes distributed near the intersection between pipes and trnech are considered very important to obtain stable solutions.
