초록

This study attempted to compare and analyze the power required of the K-Supramax hull according to the added resistance estimation method in irregular wave, which includes the guideline of the estimation of minimum propulsion power in adverse conditions (MEPC71/INF.28). The added resistance in the various wave conditions (head sea and oblique sea) was estimated through CFD simulation, and the added resistance in the situation of the long-crested irregular and short-crested irregular waves was estimated. For long-crested irregular conditions, direct computation and spectral methods were used to estimate the resistance. And the resistance of the short-crested irregular wave condition was considered using the spectral method through the results of the oblique regular wave condition. The added resistance obtained in adverse conditions was compared according to the estimation methods, and the power required in irregular waves was also evaluated. As a result, the difference in estimated power required between methods was compared and reviewed. © 2024 by the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE).
